Meet the Research Staff

The work of the Collaboration is supported by a number of Research Fellows and Research Assistants spread across the participating institutions.

Working together to collect and analyse the various types of data involved in the study, the team of research staff includes qualitative and quantitative researchers from a mix of disciplinary backgrounds.

Dr Marie Bryce

Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry

Marie Bryce is a Research Fellow in the Collaboration for the Advancement of Medical Education Research & Assessment (CAMERA) at Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. Since joining the group in 2013, she has contributed to its programme of research on professional regulation and has a particular interest in revalidation and fitness to practise. (Read More)

Mr Martin Roberts

Martin Roberts is a Senior Psychometrician and member of the Collaboration for the Advancement of Medical Education Research & Assessment (CAMERA) at Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. Judy is a Research Fellow at NHS Education for Scotland. Joining the collaboration in July 2015 she will assist on appraisal capture along with the collection and qualitative analysis of interview data. 

Sarah Holmes

Sarah Holmes

Cardiff University, Wales Deanery

Sarah is a Research Assistant, at Cardiff University, Wales Deanery. She joined the Revalidation Support Unit (RSU) in 2010 and has been actively involved in Medical Appraisal in Wales, and the introduction of Revalidation. Joining the UMbRELLA team in July 2015 Sarah will assist on the appraisal capture and the collection and qualitative analysis of interview data. (Read More)

Alan Boyd

Alan Boyd is a Research Fellow in Healthcare and Public Sector Management at Manchester Business School (MBS).  Over 12 years working at the University of Manchester he has contributed to a range of evaluations into organisational regulation, governance and improvement.  Alan will support and coordinate input from other MBS research team members, contribute to the collection and analysis of qualitative data, and participate in the dissemination of findings. Daniel is a Senior Assessment Psychometrician with Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. His research interests include clinical decision-making and simulation in medical education. He will specialise in the analysis and interpretation of the quantitative data generated by the project.
